The install has been updated with a very minor change, but one that will be helpful for un-registered users.  Before, it was bringing the un-registered screen up every 100 log checks.  It will now this every 100 log checks that get ACTED on (e.g., have a filter hit).  This should significantly reduce the frequency of this screen coming up..

Another minor release is up.  The biggest change to this was the "Fields" button the E-Mail screen.  Instead of having to type in the various fields to merge to the e-mail, you can click the "Fields" button to get a list, and select the one you want to insert.  This button works in both the Subject and Body areas of the screen.

Startup tips and on-line support have been added to LEM.  You can go to the on-line support forum at LEM Support Group. We usually use ezboard to do the support forum, but they've gone over the top on ads (and are very slow as of late).  We will eventual put up a forum on Ratajik.com, but this Yahoo! Group will do for now.  Feel free to post to it.  This version is very stable and robust, and ready for some feedback.

There was a problem when multiple e-mails were entered in a rule.  This has been fixed (just separate them by a ",".  Example:  "lem@ratajik.com, techguy@somedomain.com")

A new version is available today.   Two changes went in:

  • The E-mail send is now threaded (so it happens in the background).
  • When LEM came up, if there were no records in the log, it wouldn't see the first record written (So if that first record had something that LEM needed to act on, it would be ignored).  This has been fixed.

The help system is up.

Version 2.0 is up.

Changes in this release

  • Allow detail error e-mails to be sent (So you can send custom e-mails with a custom subject and body, that can contain your message and the event information, out).
  • Support of multiple servers and logs.  This is a big change, one that should make LEM much more powerful.

I anticipate the Help system will be up in the next week.

A new version of LEM is up and is available on the download page.  This one is much more generic, and adds a lot of new features.  These include:

  • Advanced filtering.  "Events" can be executed based on conditions in the log file that is being monitored.  These include simple ones like "An error was logged" to more complex, like "A Warning was logged for user Ratajik that contained 'Drive is full' in the error text."
  • Allow user-customized settings.

    Filter Events:
  • LEM can generate a e-mail.  This can also be used to send a to a cell phone or pager.
  • Play a wave file (so each flavor of problem can have it's own unique sound).
  • Allow selection of Server and Log (Still only monitors one server at the moment).
  • Load a web page (which you can pass parameters to, running a script on a web server).
  • Launch an external program (so you can write whatever you want when a event happens).

I've also put  a FAQ up.

A very early beta is up and available.  NOTE:  This version is fairly limited, in that if you turn on any filtering it is specific to what I need (e.g., it's hard coded).  I plan on releasing a generic version in the future.  This version is still useful, if you want to remotely know of any errors coming up on in a servers Application log.
